Literature Text

(Name) was constantly running around trying to keep track of the four, heavenly beings that were almost never stationary for more than a minute. It was about day six with the devilish angel fledglings and she hadn’t slept in three days; even when the boys had fallen asleep she still had many things to manage. Currently, she was searching for Gabriel who had disappeared once again.

“(NAME)!” Dean shouted angrily from the next room over, “Keep these little devils under control dammit!” He yelled as he entered the room, teal. Yes. Dean was teal; he threw Gabriel at her feet and stormed out of the room.

“Yes Dean. I’m sorry.” She muttered.

It was at that point she could no longer take it; she broke down, all the stress and anxiety attacking her at once. (Name) fell to the floor with a deep ‘thud’, leaning against the couch in a sitting position and spreading her legs in a V shape. The tears welled up in her eyes as she tried to hold them back; it was no use, she cried anyways, quietly, but she cried. Her breath came in short gasps as she sobbed, Gabriel at her side trying to comfort her. It wasn’t much longer until she had a tiny seraph in her lap trying to wipe away her tears and Lucifer on her other side whispering word of comfort in Enochian. Balthazar, however, was nowhere to be seen.

“Why? Why am I all alone trying to keep your guys in track and for what?! I mean, I’m only fifteen! I need help but no one will help me and I can’t do this by myself.” (Name) sobbed.

“Shhh, it’s okay. You’re okay, shhh.” Lucifer cooed.

Balthazar was pushing Bobby into the room by the back of his legs. Dean and Sam had followed out of curiosity, naturally. All the fledglings shot Dean a nasty glare from where they stood, trying to comfort (Name). She was still crying, asking why she was always alone. Bobby motioned for the boys to stay put while he took a seat beside (Name) on the floor, wrapping an arm around her shoulder and rubbing her arm awkwardly.

“Hey, (Name). What..uhm...what’s wrong?” He asked tentatively.

“I do everything alone and I don’t get any help. I haven’t slept in three days now because, when they sleep I’m cleaning or making sure I eat so I don’t accidently starve myself to death! I need help. I can’t do it by myself Bobby. I just can’t.” She cried.

“We’re sorry. We’ll start helping out with the boys so you don’t have to worry as much.” Bobby offered.

“Yeah. Sorry about that.” Dean muttered as he lifted Cas out of her lap, “Go upstairs and get some sleep kiddo. You’ve more than earned it.”

Sam picked up Lucifer and Gabriel while Balthazar tugged on her pant leg. (Name) stood and took Balthazar’s out stretched hand in her own and allowed him to lead her up the stairs. He escorted her into the bedroom before letting go and bowing like a little gentleman.

“Thanks, Balty. Now, go play with your brothers.” She giggled and kissed his head.

Balthazar nodded and ran off to go find his brothers. (Name) changed out of the dirt caked clothing she had been stuck in and into one of Sam’s moose sized t-shirts. She gently slid into bed, resting back and closing her eyes peacefully, allowing sleep to drag her into a dark abyss.

Meanwhile downstairs, Dean was starting to wonder how (Name) had even managed to last almost a week taking care of the fledglings by herself. They were bouncing off the walls, except Cas who was in a perpetually haze, and being a major safety hazard for themselves. Gabriel would play a trick on Balthazar who would blame Lucifer who would then return the trick on Gabriel tenfold. Gabriel would get upset and start crying, which upset Lucifer so he would start crying and Balthazar would them cry because he didn’t like everybody crying. Castiel, who was sitting alone one the couch, would start to cry too because he never liked seeing his brothers so upset.

            “Oh my god!” Dean shouted.

“How do we shut them up!?” Bobby asked.

            “They’re three, right?” Sam countered.

            “Yes!” Dean answered.

“Then I need four blankets, four stuffed animals and, their pacifiers!” Sam ordered, “Now!”

Dean scrambled about the house trying to find all the supplies that Sam had demanded he retrieved. It took him almost half an hour to find said materials, including the pacifiers that had been strewn across the house haphazardly.

“Here. I got it all” Dean said, placing everything down.

The boys were still crying so Sam wasted no time getting to work.  He first grabbed Castiel from the couch, laying him in a dark blue, nearly black, blanket and shoving his pacifier into his mouth. Sam handed him a small stuffed hippopotamus to keep the seraph busy before folding the blanket to swaddle him.

“Isn’t that for babies?” Dean asked.

“Who cares? He’s asleep and not crying.” Sam retorted.

Setting Castiel aside, Sam grabbed Gabriel and wrapped him in a golden blanket with a giraffe and his binky; he fell asleep almost instantly. Next was Lucifer who was wrapped in a pure white blanket and a pet zebra, pacifier in mouth and, set aside. Finally, Balthazar was swaddled in a burgundy blanket with s stuffed lion and honey pacifier in his mouth.

“Sam you are a genius. They all fell asleep the instant you wrapped them up.” Dean praised his brother.

“Yeah, let’s just get them to bed……with (Name).”

“That’s a bit cruel don’t you think? She’s finally getting some sleep.” Bobby intervened.

“She won’t mind. They won’t be waking up any time soon.” Sam chuckled lifting up his two.

Dean lifted Castiel and Bobby had ahold of Balthazar as they crept upstairs. Bobby hesitated slightly before opening the door to find the teenage girl sleeping soundly. The men each laid down the fledglings in their arms to surround her. The added weight to her bed made a content smile cross her face in her sleep; the men smiled before sneaking out of the room once again.
